Brunch Article 6

Sunday afternoons in New York are synonyms with brunch.  I never understood brunch. I hate the word brunch (almost as much as I hate the word blog) (side note: one of my friends asked me once if I wanted to go to linner, I tried to look it up on menupages before she told me it wasn't a hot new brunch place but was the second meal of the day on Sundays, between lunch and dinner. WOW! I told her to jump out the window). I don't understand the lines, the scene, the families; I think I just hate everything about brunch except for the actual food. I love brunch food, meaning I love eggs benedict. Eggs benedict should be the only thing on a brunch menu; that, AND bloody marys. Another reason I don't like brunch is it coincides with football. During football season brunch doesn't exist. Period. But now that football is over and its just starting to get nice out again I'm craving me some eggs beney.

Atlantic Grill is a nice little seafood spot close to my apartment, which is always packed no matter what time of day. Always looked like a decent place with a big bar in front for solo dining. I love eating at the bar at restaurants; its better and friendlier service and it's fun to chit chat with with other patrons. Anyways, I set my alarm for noon a few Sundays ago and posted up at AG for brunch. Amazing brunch menu. Eggs benedict for 13 bucks including bloody mary, bellini or mimosa. This menu almost didn't make sense. Just ordering one bloody mary a la carte is 10 bones, so theoretically my brunch food was 3 bucks. Food was great, the bloodies were great and all around I really like this place. Wanted a second bloody but instead of ordering one for ten bucks, I just ordered a whole new food order for three bucks more. Makes complete sense, right? Drank the bloody and took the eggs benedict home for dinner. Or should I say for linner!! Bit weird having eggs benedict for both brunch and linner but hey, "I'm retired at 28!"
