Hurricane Club

My new favorite bar in the city is Hurricane Club. I mean obviously Lavo is always going to be number one. So when I say my favorite bar, or restaurant, or club it's always going to be second to Lavo. I think if I'm ever dumb enough to get married and have kids, my first born will be named Lavo. Lavo "T-Bar" Fuchs. I think that has a nice ring to it, no?

Hurricane Club is located on 26th and Park close to where Phil lives. Opening last year, we started going there a lot. A lot meaning every Saturday night. From the outside it looks every exclusive and pretentious but we never have trouble getting in. You definitely need to study this drink menu before you go as there are probably 50 speciality drinks and ingredients I've never heard of. Some drinks come in carved out watermelons, coconuts and my favorite, red peppers. Others are catered for group sharing,  meaning a fruit punch bowl big enough to serve 3-4 people. Please don't try to drink that alone, as you'll probably end up getting a shoeshine downstairs by the restrooms while taking shots of rum. No, I am not kidding. For 8 bucks you can get a shine and a shot of rum. (Side note: I was curious about this pricing as I'm sure getting a shot at the bar is definitely more than 8 bucks. And sure enough I was correct. For the same size, a shot of rum at the bar is 12 dollars, so you are literally saving money by getting a shoeshine and you'll save a few bucks.) So maybe it was a good idea to try and throw back that whole watermelon drink; got a nice shine and saved four bucks on my shot. I need to take advantage of any specials I can find; "Hey, I'm retired at 28!"
