Crabs...And I'm Talking About The Good Kind

I'm taking my blog on the road this weekend. The big dance aka the NCAA Tournament is upon us and my alma mater Pitt is playing in tha dirty district Saturday. I got tickets quick and taking a road trip to my hometown for the weekend with a few friends. And by road trip I mean BoltBus, and by few friends, I mean Josh. The one foodie thing DC has over New York is crabs. More specific Maryland Blue Crabs. I'll give Maryland its due. Crabs is a Maryland/Baltimore thing not necessarily a DC thing. Anyways, whenever I go home in the spring or summertime I always request crabs for one of the dinners. There is something about getting a bushel of crabs with old bay seasoning and some corn on the cob; it brings me back to my childhood summers at Bethany Beach.

It's still a little early in the season for crabs so I will settle for Sue's famous crab cakes. I make fun of my mothers cooking a lot, or lack there of cooking, but her crabs cakes are killer. I never order crab cakes out. I don't think anyone in my whole extended family has, because they are spoiled by Sues. There are no fillers, just the perfect size and just a little hint of breadcrumbs. There are a few other secret Lieberman ingredients in those little bundles of joy, but if I told you, I would then have to kill you.

Georgetown is my second favorite team in this tournament, so I gave my cousin Dean a call who is a senior at Gtown. It just so happens Gtown plays at night so it will be perfect timing; scarf down some crab cakes and hit Gtown for the Hoyas game. To put the icing on the cake, bars in Gtown are having amazing drink specials, probably not a good as "Penny Pitchers" at Pitt, but can't complain about dollar drafts. Come to think of it, maybe if the Hoyas do well, I'll stick around and drink with Dean until my luck runs out with the Hoyas. Screw it, I can do whatever I want, "Hey, I'm retired at 28!
