Virginia, Really??

My disgruntled trip to DC started Friday night by having to pay cover charges at awful Georgetown bars and was capped off Saturday night by the gut wrenching Pitt loss. I don't want to dwell on that Pitt loss for too long because it hurts so damn much; but I think I know what the problem is. It all starts with the coach, Jamie Dixon. People are saying he's a bad coach and needs to get the boot, and to be honest, I'm one of those people, but I know how to fix this problem without showing Dixon the door. "Dixon, if you are one of the 17 people reading this blog, all you need to do is lay off the hair gel!!" He comes out for the second half with a fresh new slick back hair look. Jeez Jamie, how about giving a halftime pep talk instead of layering more grease into your scalp. I think all that hair product is killing his brain cells and trust me I would know. After I stopped with the hair product I felt like a new man, kind of like Bradley Cooper in Limitless.

There was one shining moment from this trip I would like to share with y'all.....Virginia has some damn good food. Yes, you read that correctly. I know I bash Virginia, I think even more than I bash Long Island, but I need to give credit where credit is due. Saturday afternoon my lovely parents took Josh and I out for burgers at Ray Hell Burger in Northern Virginia somewhere. I'll admit I'm sorta a burger snob coming from New York but I think Ray's might have 'em all beat or at least pretty damn close. (I'll get to my NYC burger rankings in the next few days, so stay tuned.) Ray's, which became famous after Obama ate there a few years ago, has definitely lived up to the hype. The burgers are the perfect size, get the 1/3 lb. with white american cheese. They come perfectly cooked to your order and they have a very decent options for free toppings. There were so many veggie toppings, I was temped to make a whole salad off of it. Pair it with some sweet potato fries and o-rings and you're good to go. Also, I never look at prices when I'm with my parents, like what's the point, but I did notice the very reasonable prices which makes this place even more appealing. All around this made the weekend great despite the Dixon L.A. Looks disaster.

There is also a rumor that Virginia has the best peking duck around town which was made famous by past presidents. Umm, might have to check that out next time I'm home. Road trip to DC next week anyone? I got nothing on my plate, remember, "Hey, I'm retired at 28!"

  1. Shocked to read the positive review of Virginia. From the title I thought it was going to be something absurd about the state and was pleasantly surprised. That being said, I'm leaving the state in four months and not looking back. - Troy (unsure how to change my profile from just saying T.)
