Tennis Fever

As I finish up Derek Jeter's biography, I'm on to the next one; Andre Agassi's autobiography (one of the books I bought at the Border's sale). I guess I'm into athletes lives these days. This also coincides with the beginning of the tennis season. I don't know if it has to do with the book or the fact that I'm retired (I lean more towards the latter), but I'm obsessed with the French Open. I watch every match I possibly can. Because of the time difference my sleeping pattern is all fucked up. I wake up at 5am to watch it live and I sleep whenever I can there after. This is the first time in five years the top four players in a men's grand slam all reached the semi-finals. With only two games being played tomorrow they start a little later. Sometime with those 5am starts, I say fuck it and just stay up all night.

Getting back to the Agassi book for a few minutes, its a really enjoyable read. I'm actually kind of mesmerized by him. I had no idea he actually hated tennis, like literally hated tennis. He saw it as a job and any job he would have, he said, he would hate. Sound familiar? Also fascinated to read that he was so self-conscious about his hair. He would think about it and discuss about it for hours upon end. Sound like anyone you know? It's truly summer now with the French Open occupying Memorial Day, Wimbledon over July 4th and ending with the US Open over Labor Day. Anyone up for a little Strawberry and Cream across the pond next month? "Hey, I'm Retired at 28!"
