Got a good message board going on the top BBQ places in the city. I'm encouraging more people to respond to the blog and not to me directly. Thinking of making a sign when I go out, "Don't ask me, ask the blog". I want to follow up on my friend Lindsey's comment (she did good, commenting on the blog) and Matt's comment (not so good, did NOT comment on the blog). They were both giving mad props to a little hidden gem across the street from the Kips Bay movie theater on Second avenue and 30th street aka no man's land aka Murray Hill called, you guessed it, Waterfront Ale House. I first stumbled across this place probably four years ago when my cousin Nate and I were looking for places to get Maryland blue crabs (I'll save that story for another post) in Queens and found this place after getting off the subway on a failed Queens trip. Have gone back multiple times since, usually for lunch after a morning movie at Kips Bay (Again, I'll save that story for another post as well). Very cool place with nice long bar in front and table service in back next to a help-yourself popcorn machine. I always sit at the bar with two nice TVs to watch the Knicks and eat me a pulled pork sandy. Actually, its called the Pulled Pig Sandwich. Amazing name. Even if it tasted awful, (and trust me it doesn't) I think I would still order it anyways, just to say, "Pulled Pig Sandwich". Also, very interesting drink menu specializing in absinthe drinks. I swear I saw two guys next to me at the bar order absinthe drinks and next thing I knew they disappeared. Sounds weird but maybe the strong drinks disintegrated them, or looking back on it maybe it was me who was drinking the absinthe...
Anyways, I highly recommend this place for its unique menu and drink selection. (Side note: Always have been tempted to bring in a brown paper bag, fill it up with popcorn and then go to the movies.) What? Phil, don't roll your eyes at me, "Hey, I'm retired at 28!"
