For people who live in a cave, the shows basic premise is about a small Texas town and the local high school football team that the community embraces more than life itself. But the genius part about the program is even if a viewer isn't interested in football, it doesn't matter, because its so more than that. I swear, on average, I choke up at least four times an episode and sometimes actual tears come out. There are so many classic lines from tonight's episode my head is still spinning. Also, the show tonight ends with Coach Taylor and his wife Tami sending their daughter, Julie, off to college. Coach gives her a brand new credit card and says, "this is for emergencies only". Damn, I need something like that now! Does being really hungry and going to TBar count as an emergency? I think so. Everything I do now should count as an emergency, "Hey, I'm Retired at 28!"

TGIFNL
Best show on TV right now is Friday Night Lights (FNL), hands down. It has a weird programming schedule, some deal with DirecTV, so it premiered its final season tonight on NBC. (Anyone who has watched it on DirecTV please keep lips sealed.) Of course I want to be as good looking as Don Draper on Mad Men, or cook meth as potently as Walter White on Breaking Bad, or be as funny as Phil Dunphy on Modern Family, but I'm sorry, FNL takes the cake. I've read the book (shocking I know), saw the movie, but the TV show kills 'em all. The characters are amazing and it really hasn't missed a beat with key characters coming and going. The producers want to go out on top, a la Seinfeld, so they announced this season is the last.

I watched the first season and part of the second - I should watch all of them. I'm just not sure if I would stay interested since all the original kids got too old for high school and a bunch of new guys joined the cast.
