One of my best friends from Pitt, Scott, woke me up from a nap around 3pm with an interesting email. (side note- I have copied my grandfather's sleeping patterns as a true retiree should. Like Leo, I'm never truly asleep but never 100 precent awake. Does that make sense?) Anyways, Scott wanted to inform me that a Shake Shack is coming to Dupont Circle in a few weeks. I have mixed reviews on SS. It might just have to do with all the press and hype it gets and the crazy lines it racks up at its original location in Madison Square Park. I mean its relatively cheap and the potato buns are amazing but to be honest with you I'll take a hot dog from SS over a burger any day of the week. He also mentioned that Hill Country made its debut in DC a few months ago. The funniest part of all of this is I took Scott to both those places when he visited me a few years ago. Not trying to toot my own horn, but I gave Scott a three year preview of cool restaurants in NYC which now are finally making its trek down South.
You cant really blame DC. Its known as an east coast version of LA but for ugly people. DC is all smart people talking about politics and law. And smart people aren't pretty. Its a known fact. DC is trying to be cool and its on the verge but they keep fucking up. Instead of stealing restaurants from NYC, figure out your own ones (you did good with Hell's Burgers and Peking Duck Gourmet, keep on going). Instead of breaking out a new Wizards uniform thats trying so hard to make it look like the old school Bullets unis, just bring back the old name and uniform!! I hate the excuse that DC murders were at an all time high right before they changed names. I highly doubt thugs in PG County are thinking I'll go shoot more people today because I like the way the Bullets play ball. And don't even get me started on the Redskins stadium. The city of DC is just like their sports teams, so close but always seem to screw it up.
Watch them get a T-Bar in 2015.
It's about 1am now so just like Leo is probably doing down in Delray, I'm going to make some food. Not sure if its dinner or breakfast or lunch but I'm hungry! "Hey, I'm Retired at 28!"
I don't think of it as I woke you up from your nap, think of it as I woke you up in time for dinner so you can grab the early bird special...
