I'm a Sports Junkie

Maybe it's because of the competition, or the bonds I've made talking shit to my friends from other cities (or them just talking shit to me), whatever the reason is, I love watching sports. But I'm getting sick of the generic top four sports especially with my teams being awful. Regardless of my teams, I could always sit down and watch any two teams play baseball, basketball, football and occasionally hockey. Not anymore. Luckily basketball is coming to an end, but its such a predictable sport with the athletes only trying for the last three minutes. (I didn't even watch the Miami Heat/Chicago Bulls game last night. I knew exactly what was going to happen, and yup, it held true to form. I guess I should put money where my mouth is. Anyways, went to Lavo instead with Phil. I noticed one woman who ordered a bunch of drinks and handed the bartender a Lavo card with the owners signature on it. Umm, how do I get one of those cards? I'm kicking myself I didn't ask the woman but on the way out I did ask the bartender. She said that woman is close friends with the owner. WTF? How do I become close friends with the owner? These are times I wish Eric was still retired with me.) Don't even get me started on football. They can continue this lockout for five seasons for all I care. I can't watch hockey with Florida teams involved, I just can't do it. I guess baseball is okay as background stimulation as all TV shows are now heading into the rerun summer cycle.

I have a solution, less mainstream sports, or at least less mainstream in the US. I'm obsessed with the French Open tennis now. Tennis is probably the only sport where I actually like the women sport better. I'm getting more into soccer. Thinking of watching the match tomorrow at Phils. Not really sure who is playing but I'll do my research. Also, I have been following horse racing a lot, but that came to a quick holt a few weeks ago after venturing out to Long Island to bet on some ponies. Let's just say it ended messy with Josh in the hospital.

I'm still curious how I get one of those Lavo cards. Damnit! That would have been a great way to start off the summer of 2011 because this is the summer of Elliot! I can feel it in my bones. This is the first summer that I'll have been completely retired. "Hey, I'm Retired at 28!"

(P.S.- My Hamptons and Summer Guide will be coming out shortly along with my long anticipated burger rankings. Stay tuned!)
